How to change the wireless channel for Belkin N300 Router Setup?

Are you suffering from week or intermittent Belkin wireless network? If yes, then varying router channel could be a great solution to this problem. To change the wireless channel of your router, kindly refer to both the procedures provided below.

Users can change the wireless channel of their Belkin router through two possible ways. One is by accessing its web interface and another is through Dashboard interface. Depending upon the requirement users may lower down or higher the channel in order to enhance the speed and reliability of their Belkin wireless internet network. Here’s the procedure to vary Wi-Fi channel both through web interface as well as through dashboard interface. As per your convenience kindly refer to the procedures provided below.

Steps for varying the wireless channel by using Belkin web interface:

  1. Open any updated web browser on your computer that is receiving adequate Wi-Fi signals.
  2. Type in the URL as http://router. In case, the URL is not accessible, then try accessing the web interface by typing the IP address i.e. 192.168.2.1. After typing the IP addresses hit the “Enter” key or click once on the “Go” button.
  3. Soon as the web interface of Belkin N300 Setup opens up, locate the “Login” button and click on it.
  4. Type in the Belkin router’s admin sign in credentials. In case, you haven’t changed the default settings of your router, then you may leave the space for password as blank i.e. do not type anything in the password field and click on the “Submit” button.
  5. After the credentials are verified, click on the “Wireless” settings tab.
  6. Under wireless settings, click on the option labeled as “Channel and SSID.”
  7. Click on the “Wireless Channel” menu and choose any of the wireless channels you wish to enable. Preferably, users may opt for channels numbered as 1, 6 or 11 because these are non-overlapping channels. The availability of these channels might vary as per the location of an user.
  8. Once you are done making changes to wireless channel, kindly click on the “Apply Changes” button to retain the changes.

Steps for changing wireless channels of Belkin router by accessing its dashboard:

  1. Launch any updated web browser on your internet supporting device.
  2. Type in the URL as http://router or 192.168.2.1 in search field and press down the enter key for once.
  3. The Belkin dashboard will open up. There submit the Belkin router’s admin user ID and password details.
  4. Once the admin account opens up, you may refer to any one of the three methods for changing the wireless channel. Three of these methods are through header section, advanced settings menu and router details tab. The complete steps for changing the wireless channel through all these three methods has been discussed bellow.
  5. Following are the steps for varying wireless channel through the header section of dashboard:
  • Locate the pencil like icon available at the above left side of the Belkin Setup N300 dashboard and click on it.
  • Submit the network ID and password details for both the bands i.e. 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz as well
  • Click once on the drop down icon available in front of “Advanced options.” A list of configuration options will open up for making changes to the wireless settings.
  • Click on drop down menu available under “Wireless channel” and choose any of the channels for making changes to wireless channel of your router.
  • After selecting the wireless channel, click on the “Save” button to retain the changes.
  1. Following are the steps for varying wireless channel through advanced settings section of dashboard:
  • Move down to the middle of your dashboard and click on the option for “Advanced settings.”
  • Go to “WiFi” tab and click on the option for “Wireless Settings” under in.
  • Submit the network ID and password details for both the bands i.e. 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz as well.
  • Click on the drop down icon available in front of “Advanced options” and other configuration options will become visible.
  • Locate the drop down icon under “Wireless Channel” and click on it to select any one of the available wireless channels.
  • Click on the “Save” button and the changes made till now will be retained.
  1. Following are the steps for varying wireless channel through router details tab of dashboard:
  • Move towards the bottom side of dashboard. Find the “Router Details” tab and click on it.
  • Go to “Wireless” settings and click on any one of the links available in green color.
  • Submit the network ID and password details for both the bands i.e. 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz as well.
  • Click once on the drop down icon available I front of “Advanced options” and a list of other configuration options will show up.
  • There click on the drop-down icon available below the option labeled as “Wireless Channel.” Choose any of the wireless channels and click on the “Save” button to ensure the changes are retained.
